Poblacion 2 lass crowned Miss Tagbilaran 2008 After an astonishing display of charm and wit, Ruby Crisanie Pernia Mijos earned the Miss Tagbilaran 2008 crown during the Pageant and Coronation Night at the Bohol Cultural Center last Monday. Mijos, a resident of Remolador Street this city, 21 years of age and stands 5 feet and 5 inches tall, was the official candidate of Poblacion II. She finished secondary education from Holy Spirit School and is presently taking up Medical Technology at Cebu Doctor's University. Grabbing two major awards, Miss Friendship and Best in Interview, cemented her bid to the revered title. Next in rank are First Runner-up Josie Mae Ranis of Mansasa District and Second Runner-up Donnna Maricel Cardino representing Venecy Marketing. The former was chosen Darling of the Press while the latter grabbed two special awards namely, Miss Pepsi and Miss Dunkin' Donuts. The top three candidates answered to the final question on how they could be of help to City Mayor Dan Neri Lim in the campaign for Chocolate Hills in the new Seven Wonders of the World, knowing that he has been assigned to spearhead the campaign. Prior to the selection of the top 3, the twelve candidates were first trimmed down to five, which included Stacy Mae Arisola of Taloto and STI College and Melle Angeli Doroy of Booy. Each of the top five was asked to interpret a photo, taken within the city. The winners of other major awards were, Mary Joyce Cajegas of Bool, Best in Swimwear; Stacy Mae Arisola of Taloto and STI College, Best in Talent; and Melle Angeli Doroy of Booy, Miss Photogenic and Best in Evening Gown. To recognize the efforts of the designers, the Best Designer Award was instituted. Receiving the award was Shandy Mission who created all costumes and gowns of Susane Mae dela Cruz representing CruztelCo. Mr. Norris Oculam, Judge Suceso Arcamo, Dr. Jeimylo de Castro, Mr. Alder Damalerio, Dr. Svetlana Ayacardo, Ms. Genevieve Jamisola, and Dr. Sharleen Lim comprised the seven-member panel of judges. The twelve official candidates were Jackelyn S. Calapiz, AMA-Computer Learning Center; Bienna Ursula B. Bautista, Dao; Janice M. Parilla, Cogon; Ruby Crisanie P. Mijos, Poblacion II; Aiza C. Hingpit, Image Marketing-Poblacion I; Donna Maricel B. Cardino,Venecy Marketing; Stacy Mae V. Arisola, Taloto and STI-College; Susane Mae E. Dela Cruz, Cruztelco; Leah Mae G. Estomo, Dampas; Josie Mae Ranis, Mansasa; Melle Angeli Doroy, Booy; and Mary Joyce Cajegas, Bool. The Beauty Pageant was presented by the City Government of Tagbilaran thru Mayor Dan Neri Lim, Globe Telecom, San Miguel Beer, Pepsi Cola and Miravilla Resort. Supporting the event were Nature's Spring, Dunkin' Donuts, Ramasola Original Studio, Island City Mall, The Bohol Chronicle, BQ Mall and First Consolidated Bank. At the helm of the preparation was Deputy Mayor Mariano L. Uy, Chairman of the City Fiesta Activities. The Miss Tagbilaran 2008 will be officially presented to the public thru a motorcade tomorrow along the main thoroughfares of the city. (By David Maulas)
